10 Barrel Brewing Company Hop Rye’It IPA

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is 10 Barrel Brewing Company Hop Rye’It IPA.  Here’s another beer I sourced while on summer vacation.  This bottle I picked up at Broken Top Bottle Shop &  Ale Café (here). Be sure to visit there if you find yourself in Bend, OR.  The owner is great and the selection is amazing!
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours dark hazy amber with an orangish tint, a nice off-white head and left loads of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Citrus hops, spicy rye, sweet caramel, toffee, toast and faint tropical and floral hop notes.
Taste: Citrus and floral hop bitterness up front followed by caramel malt sweetness, pale malts and spicy rye.
Overall: Balanced and enjoyable, 10 Barrel Brewing Company Hop Rye’It IPA is well done.  At 6.5% ABV this leans more towards the IPA side of things and absolutely worth a try.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
