Anderson Valley Brewing Company Pinchy Jeek Barl Bourbon Barrel Pumpkin Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Anderson Valley Brewing Company Pinchy Jeek Barl Bourbon Barrel Pumpkin Ale - Malt beverage brewed with pumpkin and spices and aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels. I picked this bottle up at The Wine Club in San Jose (here). They have a small craft beer section, but they have an incredible selection.  If you're anywhere near The Wine Club go visit them and tell 'em Mark from NorCal Beer Blog sent you!

From the Anderson Valley Brewing Company website: “Aged for 6 months in Wild Turkey® barrels, this bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin ale is pleasantly creamy with a silky body and sweet caramel flavor. The aging process imparts notes of coconut, vanilla, and oak to compliment the tang of the spices and a hint of hops, all wrapped in a smooth, round finish.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a hazy dark orangish-brown with a large beige head and thick lacing.
Aroma: Pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices (mostly cinnamon and nutmeg), sweet caramel malt, bourbon, vanilla and a slight brown sugar scent.
Taste: Caramel malt, pumpkin pie spices, light bourbon, vanilla, coconut and slight oak flavor.
Overall: Exceptionally balanced and highly drinkable, Anderson Valley Brewing Company Pinchy Jeek Barl Bourbon Barrel Pumpkin Ale is tasty.  This 8.5% ABV offering is an excellent Fall beer.  Pick some up! You’ll be glad you did.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
