Odin Brewing Company Freya’s Gold Kölsch Style Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Odin Brewing Company Freya’s Gold Kölsch Style Ale.

From the Odin Brewing Company website: “Freya’s Gold – Kölsch Style Ale is a light, crisp, and refreshing ale. Like the traditional Kölsch style that originated in Koln, Germany, this ale goes through a long cold conditioning phase much like a lager to blend and smooth out the flavors. This results in a very drinkable beer with a clean body and mild flavors. Freya’s Gold is also balanced with acidulated malt and brewed with a touch of ginger to give a unique taste and drinking experience.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a pale straw yellow color with a small white head.
Aroma: Crisp and clean with light malt and grain scents.  Fruity and spicy and a faint hop aroma.
Taste: Lightly sweet, clean with light floral and citrus hops. Hints of ginger.
Overall: Odin Brewing Company’s Freya’s Gold Kölsch Style Ale is crisp and refreshing and something I could session on a warm summer day (or any time really).  At 4.5% ABV this is easy drinking.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
