Caldera Brewing Company Mogli Oak Aged Imperial Porter

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Caldera Brewing Company Mogli Oak Aged Imperial Porter Brewed with Chocolate. I picked up a few bottles of Mogli while visiting the brewery last summer. This came highly recommended by my friend Jade at HopTech Homebrewing Supplies (here).

From the Caldera Brewing Company website: “Caldera’s Mogli was inspired by the loss ofa  dear friend. This is a chocolate, oak-aged Imperial Porter.  Molgli is complex, sweet, chocolatey, big and full of unconditional love. Sure to warm your heart. Sit, stay, roll over, cookies? If ever in Ashland, Oregon, come by and check out the Caldera Tap House, located at 31 Water Street.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a dark chocolate brown with ruby highlights, a thin tan head and scattered lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate dominates the nose followed by vanilla, oak and roasted malts.
Taste: Dark and milk chocolate, vanilla, oak and roasted malts.  Heaven in a glass!
Overall: Smooth and delicious, Caldera Brewing Company Mogli Oak Aged Imperial Porter is amazing.  This 8.5% ABV offering from Caldera is well worth sourcing.  I have recently found more of their beers in the Bay Area, Mogli being one of them. Check it out!

Cheers!

  1. I saw this at my local store in VA today. I'll have to pick it up! Wax makes any bottle look incredibly elegant.
