Kettle House Brewing Company Cold Smoke Scotch Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Kettle House Brewing Company Cold Smoke Scotch Ale.

From the Kettle House Brewing Company website: “Cold Smoke® Scotch Ale is one of our most popular and biggest award winners. It is a dark smooth ale with a slightly sweet coffee finish.  Named after the light, bottomless powder that falls in Montana, Cold Smoke® is the transcendent powder experience craved by skiers and boarders. “No friends on powder days!” If you have ridden Cold Smoke®, you know what I mean. Available at both Taprooms. 6.5% abv; 11 IBUs.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours mahogany with a slight beige head and good lacing.
Aroma: Toasted, caramel and sweet grain scents, brown sugar, molasses, cocoa and roasted nuts.
Taste: Caramel, brown sugar, molasses, dark fruit, cereal grains, cocoa, peat smokiness, nutty, toffee, vanilla and roasted malts.
Overall: Smooth and sweet, Kettle House Brewing Company Cold Smoke Scotch Ale is a malt-forward beer that is very drinkable and enjoyable.  This 6.5% ABV offering is creamy, delicious and something that I would seek out again.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
