Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Lone Peak Brewery Hippy Highway
Oatmeal Stout.
From the Lone Peak Brewery website: “Hippy Highway
Oatmeal Stout is a robust, deep black ale. this beer is chock full of six
different imported English malts and 10% flacked oats that give it a rich
mouth-full.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
black with a thin cocoa colored head and a little lacing.
Aroma: Roasted
malts, chocolate and light caramel, toffee and coffee scents.
Taste: Bitter
dark chocolate, roasted malts and coffee – just a touch of sweetness.
Overall: Creamy
and complex, Lone Peak Brewery Hippy Highway Oatmeal Stout is a well-executed Oatmeal
Stout. This 5.5% ABV offering is nicely balanced and very drinkable. I’d certainly recommend this to fans of the
style.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
