Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Wicked Weed Brewing Oblivion -
Sour Red Ale Aged in Wine Barrels with Blackberries and Dates.
From the Wicked Weed Brewing website:
“Oblivion is a sour red ale aged with blackberries and dates in red wine
barrels for up to 12 months. This ale is then carefully blended to create depth
and balance that will envelop you in its complexity.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a dark auburn color with a thin white head leaving lots of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Blackberries,
oak, red wine, vanilla, tart fruit, slight date, caramel and funk.
Taste: Blackberry,
funk, oak, sour and fruity, slight caramel, vanilla, red wine and date flavors.
Overall: Tart and
sour, Wicked Weed Brewing Oblivion is well worth a try. This 8.75% ABV offering drinks easier than
the ABV would suggest.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
