Widmer Brothers Brewing Brrr Seasonal Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Widmer Brothers Brewing Brrr Seasonal Ale.

From the Widmer Brothers Brewing website: “Warm up with a cold one. Or Two. Our winter Red Ale is the perfect treat, naughty or nice.  The deep red body fills your glass and a citrusy hop aroma fills your nose. Then caramel and chocolate malts reward you with a perfectly balanced, malty sweet flavor and velvety finish.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a clear amber with a thin off-white head and spotty lacing.
Aroma: Citrus, pine, caramel, toffee and slight spice notes.
Taste: Hops hit first, citrus and pine followed by sweet caramel and chocolate malts. Slight spice presence.
Overall: Balanced and delicious, Widmer Brothers Brewing Brrr Seasonal Ale is a bit hoppier than most winter warmers (in my opinion), but that doesn’t mean I didn’t completely enjoy it.  At 7.2% ABV and dangerously drinkable I’ll look forward to this seasonal release from Widmer Brothers Brewing.  This one is worth picking up again and again.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
