Cigar City Brewing Cubano-Style Espresso Brown Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Cigar City Brewing Cubano-Style Espresso Brown Ale.

From the Cigar City Brewing website: “This rich brown ale is redolent with Cuban-style roasted espresso beans, sweet caramel and toffee and hints of dry nuttiness. Cuban Espresso is a popular drink in the Cigar City of Tampa owing to its many Sicilian and Cuban immigrants. The beans for Cubano-Style Espresso Brown Ale are roasted locally by Mazzaro's Italian Market and Deli in St. Petersburg to our exact specifications.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a slight tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma: Espresso dominates the nose with hints of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and caramel.
Taste: Like the nose, giant espresso flavor up front followed by chocolate, vanilla, caramel and a slight bitterness at the finish.
Overall: Is this a breakfast beer? Sure.  Honestly, Cigar City Brewing Cubano-Style Espresso Brown Ale is an anytime beer.  Incredibly drinkable, balanced and extraordinary at 5.5% ABV I could drink a few of these morning, noon and night.  Cigar City Brewing is fast becoming one of my favorite breweries in the nation.  Another incredible offering from a top notch brewery.

Cheers!
Mark Harvey
