Bear Republic Brewing Company Café Racer 15 Imperial IPA

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Bear Republic Brewing Company Café Racer 15 Imperial IPA.  I decided to swing back to a NorCal beer tonight as I try and weave as many beers from my road trip in with local beer reviews that need to be posted.

From the Bear Republic Brewing Company website: “Café Racer 15™ features aromas of bright citrus and resinous pine from the generous use of Citra, Amarillo, Cascade and Chinook hops which are complimented by a dry malt finish. The result is a high revving Double IPA that is loud and assertive, much like the rebellious street racers who inspired it. Never ride alone…”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a golden orange color with a nice off-white head and thick lacing.
Aroma: Citrus, tropical and pine hop goodness with sweet malts lingering in the nose.
Taste: Citrus and pine hops followed by more muted tropical hop flavors balanced nicely with caramel and biscuit malts and toffee flavors.
Overall: Well-constructed and tasty, Bear Republic Brewing Company Café Racer 15 Imperial IPA is enjoyable. At 9.75% ABV this is a solid choice for fans of the style.  I hope to try this one tap someday.  In the bottle it is great!

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
