Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Clown Shoes Beer Swagger Hoppy
Red Lager.
From the Clown Shoes Beer website: “Clown Shoes
Swagger is a liquid strut, a summertime quaff with attitude, a crisp red lager
dry hopped with Simcoe and Citra. Perfect for a barbecue or a picnic at the beach,
as well as to pacify your inner peacock.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a dark and hazy reddish amber color with an off-white head and frothy and
sticky lacing.
Aroma: Fruity,
floral and citrus hops with a nice blend of sweet, caramel, toasted and bready
malts.
Taste: Citrus hop
bitterness, sweet caramel and bready malts and a slight pine hop finish.
Overall: Nicely
balanced and drinkable, Clown Shoes Beer Swagger Hoppy Red Lager is solid. This 6% ABV Clown Shoes offering is crisp and
has a nice hop kick to round out the malt backbone.
