Clown Shoes Chocolate Sombrero Mexican-style Chocolate Stout

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Clown Shoes Chocolate Sombrero Mexican-style Chocolate Stout. Since today is International Stout Day I am bumping this review up in order to have it drop tonight.

From the Clown Shoes Beer website: “Roasted dark malts plus extra chocolate malts plus ancho chile plus cinnamon plus vanilla extract plus a chocolate loving, beer drinking, Clown Shoes wearing, multi-limbed, gorgeous and glorious Mexican wrestler on the label. That’s the recipe for a Chocolate Sombrero!”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours black with a nice tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma: Dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, toffee, smoked chiles, cinnamon and a touch of coffee.
Taste: Dark chocolate, dark roasted malts, vanilla, cinnamon, smoky ancho chiles and just a slight touch of coffee.
Overall: Well-crafted and well balanced; Clown Shoes Chocolate Sombrero Mexican-style Chocolate Stout is smooth, creamy and unique. The chocolate and malts on this 9% ABV Stout work nicely with the chile finish. If you’re in the mood for something chocolaty and spicy you should try this one.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
