Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Calicraft Brewing Company The
City Dynamic IPA - Bittered with Blackberry Root and Orange Peel. I had a
chance to try this at the SF Beer Week Opening Gala and was happy to find a
bottle of this at Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA (here).
Commercial description: “Brewed with a combination of nine
difference hops, The City IPA brings fresh aromas of citrus, dank and pine to
your glass”.
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a dark golden color with a large slightly off-white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma: Citrus,
pine, sweet malts and a touch of what seems to be honey.
Taste: Sweet
malts upfront balanced nicely with citrus hops and an herbal bitterness that
must be the blackberry root.
Overall: Crisp
and clean, Calicraft Brewing Company The City Dynamic IPA is solid. This 6.4% ABV offering has a unique flavor to
it that makes it stand out. Not a hop
bomb, but really easy drinking and enjoyable.
I recommend trying it!
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
