Prairie Artisan Ales Bomb! Imperial Stout

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Prairie Artisan Ales Bomb! Imperial Stout Aged on Coffee, Cacao Nibs, Vanilla Beans and Chili Peppers. I picked up this bottle at Cork N Bottle in Fremont, CA (here). Great selection – I highly recommend the place!

From the Prairie Artisan Ales website: “Bomb! is an imperial stout aged on espresso beans, chocolate, vanilla beans, and ancho chile peppers. All the flavors meld to create a truly unique beer. The peppers add just the right amount of heat to compliment the intense coffee and chocolate flavors.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours black with a thin mocha colored head and spotty lacing.
Aroma: Cacao, coffee and vanilla loom LARGE in the nose…very sweet smelling with an underlying chili pepper scent.
Taste: Cacao nibs, coffee, vanilla and just a touch of chili pepper heat.
Overall: Nice, sweet and incredibly drinkable, Prairie Artisan Ales Bomb! Imperial Stout is super smooth and amazing. The 13% ABV is extremely well hidden.  Each ingredient is masterfully highlighted in perfect proportion.  Highly recommended wouldn’t come close to how I feel about this one…get some!

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
