Evil Twin Brewing Molotov Cocktail Imperial IPA

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Evil Twin Brewing Molotov Cocktail Imperial IPA.  I picked this bottle up in Fremont, CA at California Craft Beer (here).

From the Evil Twin Brewing website: “Did you like Before During and after Christmas, maybe you thought it poured brilliantly, the alcohol was admirable well hidden and you loved how the arrogant amounts of hops numbed your mouth. This beer will knock your tongue off - it’s a tour de force in hoppiness and by far one the craziest beer ever made by Evil Twin Brewing.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours dark orange with a large light tan head and great lacing.
Aroma: Sweet caramel and biscuit malts, tropical and citrus hops with just a slight pine scent.
Taste: Sweet, stone fruits, caramel and bready malts, citrus and tropical hop bitterness and like the nose, a slight pine flavor.  This is mostly sweet, but the hop bitterness balances out the sweetness.  A bit boozy.
Overall: A solid Imperial IPA, Evil Twin Brewing Molotov Cocktail Imperial IPA is well worth trying.  This 13% ABV offering is nicely balanced and although a bit boozy it doesn’t dominate nor detract me from wanting more. If you’re not a fan of sweeter IPAs steer clear – otherwise pick some up.  I have yet to be disappointed with Evil Twin Brewing.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
