Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Anderson Valley Brewing Company
Blood Orange Gose.
From the Anderson Valley Brewing Company website: “Our Blood Orange Gose is
a tart, refreshing wheat ale that is kettle-soured with lactobacillus and
brewed with sea salt and coriander. However, unlike traditional versions
of the style, ours features liberal additions of blood oranges during
fermentation. This imparts tangy citrus notes that complement the
champagne-like flavors, creating a complex and sessionable ale perfect for any
occasion.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
an orange honey color with a white head and no lacing.
Aroma: Orange and
other citrus scents, sea salt, berries, wheat and yeast funk.
Taste: Tart
oranges, citrus, a touch salty, funky yeast and a bit of wheat.
Overall: Crisp,
sour and light, Anderson Valley Brewing Company Blood Orange Gose is
delicious. This 4.2% ABV offering is a
beer I will pick up again and again. A
perfect light and refreshing beer.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
