Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Madison River Brewing Company The
Juice Double IPA.
From the Madison River Brewing Company website:
“This Double India Pale Ale, or IPA, is extremely hopped American-style Ale
that gets its hop bitterness and character from Amarillo and Simcoe hops.
A generous amount of hops and malt, 3.5 lbs per barrel and 2800 lbs of malt,
were used to give this beer a rich malt character with a distinctive hop flavor
and aroma. This unfiltered beer is amber colored, thick bodied, highly
bitter, and finishes off with a sweet grapefruit after taste.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
an orange/copper color with an off-white head and nice lacing.
Aroma: Sweet
caramel malt, grapefruit, pine and citrus.
Taste: Citrus
hops start this one off followed by pine, tropical fruit, grapefruit and caramel
malt sweetness to balance this out.
Overall: I
enjoyed the Madison River Brewing Company The Juice Double IPA. At 9% ABV it drinks like a beer with much
lower ABV. A little tame for a DIPA, but
then again I’m accustomed to CA DIPAs. I’d
recommend this one and be glad to drink it again. I’ll seek it out next time I’m
in Montana.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
