Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Snake River Brewing OB-1 Organic
Brown Ale. This is another beer sourced at Creekside Meats Market & Deli
(Yelp page here).
From the Snake River Brewing website: “OB-1
(Organic Beer Number 1) is a USDA certified organic English style brown ale.
Snake River Brewing is proud to be the first and only brewery to be
making certified organic beer in the state of Wyoming. Made from 100% organic
malt and 100% organic hops. The only other ingredients are Teton mountain
spring water and an imported strain of English ale yeast. The alcohol
content is 4.9%. OB-1 is a signature beer of Chris Erickson.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
ruby brown with a large off-white head and great lacing.
Aroma: Caramel,
brown sugar, toffee and roasted nuts.
Taste: Caramel
malt, toffee, roasted nuts, slight grassy hop bitterness and English yeast
presence.
Overall: Balanced,
easy to drink and enjoyable, Snake River Brewing OB-1 Organic Brown Ale is a
solid Brown Ale. At 4.9% ABV I could
easily drink a few of these and will do so gladly upon my return to Jackson
Hole, WY.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
