Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Crux Fermentation Project - Crux
Brewdeck Release - Belgian Gale Belgian-Style Pale Ale.
From the Crux Fermentation Project website: “You might expect
Belgian-style golden ales to clash with aggressively hopped American pale ales,
with choppy results. But the Styrian Golding, Tettnang and Saaz hops in this
beer produce grassy, peppery notes that complement the spicy, clove-like
phenols created by the Belgian yeast. Like the North Sea gales across West
Flanders, this toasty and aromatic ale smoothes out any rough terrain as it
sweeps across your palate.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a dark golden amber color with an almost
non-existent white head and nice legs on the glass.
Aroma: Bready,
toasted and caramel malts, clove, banana, slight Belgian barnyard scents and
pepper.
Taste: Starts
with sweet malts followed by pepper, slight grassy hops, some light fruitiness
and Belgian yeast flavors.
Overall: Smooth
and drinkable, Crux Fermentation Project - Crux Brewdeck Release - Belgian Gale
Belgian-Style Pale Ale is another tasty beverage from Crux. This 4.9% ABV offering worth a try for fans
of the style.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
