Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Anderson Valley Brewing Company
Belk's ESB Extra Special Bitter Ale. I
picked this bottle up at the brewery on my way home from a recent trip.
From the Anderson Valley Brewing Company website: “Inspired by the classic
“Bitters” from Great Britain, our Belk’s ESB is an innovative take on the
style. With a deep, golden hue and big malty foundation, the spicy, herbal hop
aromas and crisp, bitter bite give a West Coast flair to this classic recipe.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a clear copper color with a large light tan head and nice lacing.
Aroma: Caramel,
toffee, vanilla, citrus and herbal hops.
Taste: Caramel and
biscuit malts, vanilla and citrus hop bitterness.
Overall: Flavorful,
balanced and easy to drink, Anderson Valley Brewing Company Belk's ESB is well
crafted. This 6.8% ABV offering went
down really fast and easy due to my complete enjoyment. I will most certainly drink more of this.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
