Evil Twin Brewing The Porthole Saison

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Evil Twin Brewing The Porthole Saison. I acquired this bottle at Caps & Taps in Dublin. As I’ve said many times before, please visit local shops and support them.  The guys at Caps & Taps (here) are really cool and if you go in there tell ‘em you heard about them here.

From the Evil Twin Brewing website: “This beer is made in collaboration with Micah Melton The Aviary and is a modest attempt to imitate The ‘Blueberry’ cocktail as it is served in The Porthole at The Aviary, Chicago. The Porthole is an equally genius and gorgeous infusion vessel designed by Martin Kastner of Crucial Detail design studio. It can be used to create striking cocktails or any other type of infusion - maybe even beer.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy orangish amber with a large white head and nice lacing.
Aroma: Biscuit and lightly toasted malts, berries, tropical and citrus fruits, Saison yeast and a touch of white pepper.
Taste: Biscuit and lightly toasted malts, tart berries, slight pineapple and other tropical notes, citrus, Saison yeast and a touch of sweet fruits.
Overall: Extremely drinkable, Evil Twin Brewing The Porthole Saison is refreshing and delicious. This 7% ABV offering is yet another well-balanced and enjoyable offering from Evil Twin Brewing.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
