Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Lakewood Brewing Company The
Temptress Imperial Milk Stout - Ale Brewed with Lactose Sugar and Vanilla. I
picked up this bottle while in Texas at Hall’s Wine & Spirits (here)
which is a must visit bottle shop if you find yourself in or around Dallas.
From the Lakewood Brewing Company website: “Va-va-voom! Our
Temptress is seduction in a glass. Curvy in all the right places, this Imperial
Milk Stout pours with a thick, milk chocolate head. Chocolate and caramel malt
give it a rich and complex body while the lower carbonation gives the beer a silky
mouth feel. She’s voluptuous, with a soft alcohol warmth that grows deeper with
every sip. Take your time with her and she’ll reward you.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
black with a thin tan head and leaving
good lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Chocolate,
caramel, coffee, vanilla and toffee dominate the nose with just a slight scent
of lactose.
Taste: Sweet –
chocolate, caramel, lactose sugar and vanilla.
Overall: I am
tremendously glad this beer was recommended to me as Lakewood Brewing Company
The Temptress Imperial Milk Stout is excellent.
This 9.1% ABV offering is something I would drink often if it were
available to me. Two enthusiastic thumbs
up! Find some – drink some!
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
