Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Russian River Brewing Company
Sanctification Sour Blonde.
From the Russian River Brewing Company website: “Technically,
this is neither an ale nor a lager. The base recipe is for a Golden Ale, but we
do the primary fermentation with 100% brettanomyces. The brett gives it some
sour notes but not as much as if it had been aged with lacto and pedio. It’s
rather refreshing on a warm day!”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a hazy golden yellow color with a large white head and nice lacing.
Aroma: Citrus,
apricots, green apples, sour and tart notes, brett funk, a slight bready and
wheaty scent.
Taste: Tart green
apples, citrus, white wine, brett funk and pear.
Overall:
Incredibly refreshing and delicious, Russian River Brewing Company
Sanctification Sour Blonde is exceptional.
At 6.75% ABV this is a must try for fans of the style and is something I
would like to drink a lot of.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
