Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Bell's Brewery The Oracle DIPA
Ale.
From the Bell’s Brewery website: “Our
take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places
hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to
malt & balance. The fireworks start with the aromatic punch of dry-hop
sessions with hop varieties from the Pacific Northwest. Resinous, citrusy hop
flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver
on that aromatic promise.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
a hazy orange with a thick off-white head and good lacing.
Aroma: Citrus,
pine, and tropical hop scents and a sweet caramel malt backbone.
Taste: Citrus and
pine hop bitterness balanced very well with caramel and biscuit malts. Big flavors all around.
Overall: Creamy
and somewhat sticky, Bell's Brewery The Oracle DIPA Ale is delicious. This 10% ABV Double IPA is easy to
appreciate, a bit heavy, slightly boozy and solid.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
