Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Sudwerk Brewing Company 3 Best
Friends Coffee Vanilla Lager - Madagascar Vanilla, Cacao Nibs and Honduran
Coffee Beans. I had this beer given to me by a friend strictly for review
purposes.
From the Sudwerk Brewing Company website: “Coffee, Vanilla,
Chocolate. A match made in brewing heaven. Born in Sudwerk’s tasting room,
3BF is an expermental blend of 3 simple ingredients creating
a unique burst of mouthwatering flavor. Roasted coffee mixed with
sweet cacao nibs and hints of vanilla bean, this brew is your
new best friend.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
amber with an off-white head and spotty lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate,
coffee, toffee, caramel and vanilla. Smells great!
Taste: Lots of
chocolate and vanilla upfront followed by lighter coffee flavors with a
Lager-like finish.
Overall: Very
delicious and something I’d certainly pick up again, Sudwerk Brewing Company 3
Best Friends Coffee Vanilla Lager is solid.
It has been a long time since I had tried a Sudwerk Brewing Company
offering and this 7% ABV beer is very enjoyable. I don’t tend to gravitate
towards Lagers in general, but this one I’d make an exception for any day.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
