Cigar City Brewing Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Cigar City Brewing Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale.

From the Cigar City Brewing website: “This Double Nut Brown Ale is brewed in honor of the popular Bolita games played in Ybor City, FL. Bolita means little ball, but the profits from the often rigged games were anything but little. A player would pick a number and hope that his bolita came up, while the game operator would employ a variety of tricks to ensure it didn't. There are no tricks in this brew though, just a high gravity brown ale redolent with caramel and toffee like malts and a long nutty finish. Pairs well with Baklava, wild game and medium body cigars.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a deep dark brown with a nice tan head and great lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate, toasted nuts, toffee, caramel and roasted malts.
Taste: Sweet malts, caramel, chocolate and toffee, roasted nuts, brown sugar and vanilla.
Overall: Truly remarkable, Cigar City Brewing Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale is incredibly drinkable and an extremely well put together beer.  At 9% ABV this 750 ml bottle was easy to finish.  It has a creamy mouthfeel and it left me wishing I could’ve brought some back home with me. I can’t say enough about the excellence that is Cigar City Brewing.  If you like a great brown ale do yourself a favor and try this one.  You’ll be glad you did!

Cheers!
