Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Hangar 24 Craft Brewery Amarillo
Pale Ale.
From the Hangar 24 Craft Brewery website: “Balanced and
Resinous. Midwestern malted barley provides a pedestal for you to experience
the flavor and aroma of the citrusy Northwestern hops which are the showcase of
Hangar 24’s version of a true classic. An American Pale Ale.
Additional Information:
What makes Hangar 24 Pale Ale special is its smoothness.
Carefully selected hops added at just the right times during the brewing
process, including post fermentation, give a deep hop flavor without the coarse
bitterness that some associate with pale ale.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a golden yellow with a white head and lots
of lacing.
Aroma: Big hop presence – citrus (orange), pale and caramel
malts.
Taste: Pale and caramel malts with a citrus hop bitterness
that is distinctly Amarillo.
Overall: Balanced and refreshing, Hangar 24 Craft Brewery
Amarillo Pale Ale is a delicious single hop beer bordering on IPA, but right on
target for the style. At 5.5% ABV I completely
enjoyed the combination of spicy, citrusy Amarillo hops and the nice malt profile.
I’m looking forward to seeing this one on the NorCal market.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
