Hangar 24 Craft Brewery California Spring Beer

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Hangar 24 Craft Brewery California Spring Beer. I had the pleasure of visiting Hangar 24 Craft Brewery a few years back and was really happy to hear of their plans to distribute in the Bay Area and beyond.

From the Hangar 24 Craft Brewery website: “Spring! A time of renewal. Renew your taste buds with our “California style” Spring Beer, a unique fusion of a hoppy wheat beer brewed with a blended fermentation of Belgian and American yeast. Pours a hazy gold with a thick, white head. Floral hop aromas abound, complemented by the taste of tangy wheat and spicy Belgian yeast notes with a bitter, slightly sweet, bready finish.

Additional Information:

For our first Seasonal 4-pack, we decided to create something one of a kind. This beer was fermented in two separate batches, one using a traditional American Ale yeast and the other using a Belgian Wit yeast. The two finished beers were then blended to create an extra layer of complexity and flavor. We also used two new hop varieties: Zythos & Calypso. These hops add a wonderful tropical fruit and pear character to our CSB.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a hazy golden amber with fluffy white head and very nice lacing.
Aroma: Citrus and floral hops, Belgian yeast, wheat, biscuit malts, orange peel and spice.
Taste: Citrus fruit, citrus and pine hops, Belgian yeast with an exceptional wheat finish.
Overall: Light, refreshing and extremely easy to drink, Hangar 24 Craft Brewery California Spring Beer is expertly crafted. The hops, malts and yeast are perfectly paired on this 5.2% ABV beauty.  I recall my trip to Hanger 24 Craft Brewery well and much like other breweries that don’t distribute to the Bay Area I would often think of ways to get some Hanger 24 Craft Brewery beer home.  Well Bay Area, wait no longer as you can expect to see their offerings soon.  I plan to review about six of their beers over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye on the blog and keep an eye on the shelves.
You’ll be glad you did.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
