Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Green Flash Brewing Company Hop
Head Red Ale. It is interesting to me
how for years I didn’t pay much attention to Green Flash Brewing Company’s
beers and now that I have I’m hooked!
From the Green Flash Brewing Company website: “Resinous hop
characteristics emerge from an enormous hopping with Columbus, Nugget and
Amarillo overtaking the rich caramel malt base. To add luscious
hop
flavors and enticingly floral hop aromas, we dry-hop the brew with bucket loads
of Amarillo hops. Welcome to the world of Red IPA.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours amber with a dense tan head and loads of
sticky lacing.
Aroma: Pine and citrus hops dominate with nice malt
sweetness in the back.
Taste: Pine and citrus hops up front with a great caramel
malt sweetness to balance this beer perfectly.
Delicious bready flavor in the finish.
Overall: An overall great beer, Green Flash Brewing Company’s
Hop Head Red Ale is excellent. At 7.0%
ABV this is a beer I plan to buy on a regular basis.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
