Mammoth Brewing Company Double Nut Brown Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Mammoth Brewing Company Double Nut Brown Ale.  After enjoying their IPA 395 I thought I’d try another one of their offerings.

From the Mammoth Brewing Company website:” Reminiscent of coffee and dark chocolate, this dark ale exhibits a mild sweetness and finishing roast dryness. This big ol’ Brown Porter is a Mammoth legend. And what’s nice to know is that no nuts were harmed or used during the brewing of this beer.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a nearly black dark brown color with a thin head and decent lacing.
Aroma: Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and roasted nuts.
Taste: Such a great combination of a brown ale and a porter.  Starts with a nutty, roasted malt flavor, sweet and then is followed by coffee and chocolate porter flavors.
Overall: I enjoyed Mammoth Brewing Company’s Double Nut Brown Ale.  As a fan of both porters and brown ales I feel they did a great job with this hybrid.  At 5.5% ABV this is well worth checking out and having a few of.

Cheers!

Mark Harvey
