Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is The Pike Brewing Company XXXXX
The Pike Stout Extra Stout.
From the The Pike Brewing Company website: “Full
bodied velvety malt texture; hints of chocolate licorice & espresso. Early
ale style known for its restorative, nutritional, & health-giving benefits.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a pitch black with a mocha colored head
and sticky lacing.
Aroma: Rich dark and chocolate malts, roasted coffee and
citrus hops.
Taste: Rich and bitter chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a
nice hop finish. This is big, bold and
strong.
Overall: Incredibly tasty, The Pike Brewing Company’s XXXXX
The Pike Stout Extra Stout is another solid offering from The Pike Brewing
Company and one that I’d like to have on hand at all times. At 7% ABV this leaves me wanting another (and
another).
