Lagunitas Brewing Company Imperial Red Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Lagunitas Brewing Company Imperial Red Ale.

From the Lagunitas Brewing Company website:” Big on the spicy, skunky hops, bigger on the rich red malt. A variation of our original 1993 "Lagunitas Red". Still in the handy 6-pack carriers for your enjoyment.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a dark red amber with a thin white head and great sticky lacing.
Aroma: Sweet and hoppy…citrus and pine hops and sweet malts, brown sugar and molasses.  Incredible nose!
Taste: Fantastic combination of citrus and pine hops and sweet caramel malt.  Hops are in the forefront on this one, but balanced well with a sweet malty back. My favorite Imperial Red.
Overall: Flavorful, drinkable and thoroughly enjoyable, Lagunitas Brewing Company’s Imperial Red Ale weighs in at 7.8% ABV and is available around January.  Keep an eye out for it as it is very much worth grabbing a six pack (or a case if you’re me).

Cheers!
