Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the
NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.
Tonight’s featured beer is Saranac Pumpkin Ale (Matt Brewing
Company).
From the Saranac website: “A hearty
ale brewed with pumpkin, cinnamon, allspice and ginger with a full body and
amber color.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours
orange amber with an off-white head leaving little lacing.
Aroma: Caramel
malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, all-spice, ginger and a light pumpkin scent.
Taste: Toasted
and caramel malts, pumpkin pie spices with mild pumpkin and toffee flavors and
a slight spice bitterness in the finish.
Overall: Easy
drinking, Saranac Pumpkin Ale was nice to try.
At 5.4% ABV and 32 ounces this could be a good option for Halloween
party for folks looking for something festive and not too high in ABV. Overall
I liked it, but I’m not sure I’d buy it for regular drinking.
Cheers!
Mark Harvey
