Cigar City Brewing Maduro Brown Ale

Hello beer lovers and welcome to another edition of the NorCal Beer Blog's brew review.

Tonight’s featured beer is Cigar City Brewing Maduro Brown Ale.

From the Cigar City Brewing website: “Maduro is a Northern English-style brown ale with some American affectations. Maduro is higher in alcohol than the common English brown ale and features flaked oats in the malt bill which imparts a silky body and works to mesh the roasted, toasted and chocolate components together in Maduro's complex malt profile. The end result is a remarkably full-flavored yet approachable and sessionable brown ale that pairs well with mild to medium cigars.”
Let’s get started!
Appearance: Pours a dark chocolate brown with a huge off-white head and nice lacing.
Aroma: Sweet, roasted and chocolate malts, coffee, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts and oats.
Taste: Sweet caramel and chocolate malts, toffee, nuts, oatmeal, slight hop and coffee bitterness.
Overall: Smooth and creamy, Cigar City Brewing Maduro Brown Ale is perfectly balanced and probably one of the best Brown Ales I’ve ever had.  At 5.5% ABV this could be a great session beer if only it was available to me.  Cigar City Brewing is an amazing brewery with amazing beers.  A friend of mine recently took my advice and ordered a bunch of their beers from Let’s Pour.  He wasn’t disappointed. The price via Let’s Pour is a bit steep to session Cigar City Brewing Maduro Brown Ale so go to Tampa and get your fill while you’re there.

Cheers!
