Hangar 24 Craft Brewery in Redlands, CA will be releasing a special beer, aptly named Baseball Beer, for the 2013 season of America’s Pastime. Poured exclusively at games, where it will launch April 4, and the following day at the Hangar 24 Tasting Room.
In addition, March 30 sees the availability of the Barrel Roll No. 4 – Hammerhead for 2013 and then, one week later, on April 6, the Local Fields Series Palmero will be available.
All three beers are available for a limited time. Baseball Beer will be available throughout baseball season, while Hammerhead and Palmero will be available in 2013 until the supply is out.
Baseball Beer is the first new beer from Hangar 24 since the 2012 Seasonal Series wrapped up with the October 20 launch of Hullabaloo Winter Beer. Hangar 24 owner Ben Cook attends numerous games each season and his love of the sport led him to create a specific beer to enjoy at the game.
“I go to games all the time,” explained Cook, “We all thought it'd be fun to design a beer specifically for watching games on a warm summer day or night.”
Baseball Beer - (Launching April 4, available on draught at games and the Tasting Room)
4.8% ABV, 21 IBU, bright, golden color
A unique blend of a classic Pilsner with an American Wheat Beer. Spicy hop aroma and a clean subtle bitterness are balanced by the bready malt character of wheat. This balance makes the beer especially refreshing and drinkable.
Hammerhead – Barrel Roll No. 4 - (Available March 30 on draught and in 750 ml bottles at select locations in California and the Tasting Room)
13.8% ABV, 83 IBU
Hammerhead is a big, complex, American-style Barleywine featuring two English caramel malts and four American hops. Hammerhead’s character is enhanced by dry hopping and then aging the deep amber liquid for six months in charred oak rye whiskey and bourbon barrels. Spicy aromas spill from the glass: rich caramel, citrusy hops, bourbon and oak. Layered flavors of toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, spice and rye whiskey lead to a warm and slightly bitter finish. This is a strong ale, meant to be sipped, savored and enjoyed.
Palmero – Local Fields Series- (available April 6 on draught and 22 oz. Bombers at select locations in California and the Tasting Room)
4.8% ABV, 21 IBU, bright, golden color

7.0% ABV, 20 IBU
Named after one who tends to date palms, Palmero looks to match a Belgian classic with the sweetness of Southern California Dates. Palmero is a traditional Abbey Dubbel with a healthy addition of dates from the Coachella Valley. Fruity esters from the Belgian yeast strain combine with a delicate date sweetness. This beer is full of flavors of caramel, raisin, rum and spice. The Coachella Valley is home to roughly 95% of all dates grown in the US. Palmero was designed to show off the wonderful complex flavor of this Southern California fruit.
Hangar 24 Craft Brewery was founded in 2008 in Redlands, California and is widely known for their flagship beer, Orange Wheat. Named after a specific aircraft hangar at Redlands Municipal Airport, where Founder and Master Brewer Ben Cook would hang out after an afternoon of flying to talk aviation, play music and share a few cold ones that Ben just finished brewing at home. The Brewery and Tasting Room were established and still operate in a renovated hangar directly across the street. Hangar 24 embodies a true passion for good beer, the absolute love of flying and the pure enjoyment of being around great friends.
Cheers!
